Lynwood Unified Middle School Electives Fair Sparks Students' Aspirations

More than 700 Lynwood Unified sixth graders explored innovative programs and elective courses offered at Cesar Chavez and Hosler middle schools during the annual Electives Fair earlier this month, giving students a jumpstart in discovering interests and future pathways.

With enthusiastic support from teachers and students, attendees participated in captivating displays and demonstrations, discovering the thrilling electives that await them when they start middle school next year. Students delved into the vital role of a medic by learning CPR skills, experienced the joy of playing instruments for the first time, and engaged in exciting STEM activities like esports and robotics. With diverse options available, every student found something to ignite their interest.

Both middle schools showcased their well-known career technical education (CTE) programs, including Project Lead The Way and the Paxton Patterson Lab. STEM-focused courses include computer science, engineering, robotics, and app creation. Additionally, electives like AVID, film and video, art, and the Associated Student Body empower students to think critically, engage in creativity, and confidently hone their leadership skills.

Lynwood Unified is committed to igniting students' aspirations and highlighting the remarkable opportunities that education can offer. Through our innovative programs, we empower students with the essential tools for success in competitive and in-demand careers.
