College Wednesday / miercoloes es dia universitario

At Keller, we promote college knowledge and readiness! Students are encouraged to wear a college shirt on Wednesdays.  If students wear a college shirt, they can wear blue or black jeans.  Otherwise, they must wear the school uniform.

¡En Keller, promovemos el conocimiento y la preparación de la universidad! Se anima a los estudiantes a llevar una playera de cualquier universidad los miércoles. Si los estudiantes usan una playera de la universidad, pueden usar los pantalones de mesclilla azul o negro. Si no usan una playera de universidad los miercoles, deben usar el uniforme escolar.    

School Spirit Day Friday / viernes es dia de orgullo escolar

Students may wear a school shirt with blue or black jeans on Fridays to show their school spirit.  Otherwise, they must wear the school uniform.

Estudiantes pueden usar una playera escolar con pantalones de mesclilla azul o negro los viernes para mostrar su orgullo escolar. Si no usan una playera escolar, deben usar el uniforme escolar.    

For the safety of all our students, we kindly ask that you do not wait in the school parking lot and signal your child to walk or run to your car. This creates a dangerous situation, as children may not be visible to drivers of SUVs and other vehicles, increasing the risk of an accident.

Please also refrain from removing the safety cones placed throughout the parking lot. These cones are essential to maintaining a safe environment during arrival and dismissal. If you need to access handicap parking or have a scheduled meeting on campus, you may temporarily move a cone—but we ask that you return it to its original position when finished.

We appreciate your support in keeping our students safe and encourage all families to model safe traffic and pedestrian behaviors at all times.

The sale or purchase of food or other goods is not allowed on school property. This practice creates unsafe conditions, as students may ignore safety rules while trying to make a purchase.

We ask that all Emergency Cards and contact information forms be completed and submitted to the school as soon as possible. If your phone number, address, or any other contact information changes during the year, please notify the office right away. Student safety is a top priority at Helen Keller Elementary, and having up-to-date contact information is essential in case of an emergency.

We also encourage families to have regular conversations at home about safety. Please review the rules and expectations you want your child to follow while traveling to and from school. Additionally, take a moment to go over the safety protocols outlined in the Parent Handbook you received at the beginning of the school year or during enrollment.

For the safety and security of all students, do not take another child from school without the express permission of their parent or guardian. In any situation where a child’s whereabouts are unclear or unauthorized, law enforcement will be contacted immediately. Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe.

We are in need of parent volunteers to assist during arrival and dismissal.

Volunteers will be provided with a City of Lynwood vest to wear while on duty.
